Triggers of Scam Sites
#1 They will ask you to pay an admission fee or a deposit fee to join their site. In return,
they say they will give you a secret list of companies which will offer you work at home projects. For the
secret list of companies, check out Home Typist Instructions.
#2 No customer support. You might not even find an email ID in most of the scam sites. If you
do, write to them and check their response rate. In most cases, you won't even get a reply.
#3 Their site is hosted on free webspace like freewebs.com. If someone says they are going
to help you make money, doesn't it mean they have already made some money from the same job before? Why would
someone who promises to help you make $1000s a month not have $3 to buy web hosting?
Tip to Catch Scammers
A common thing among all these sites is that they ask you to pay some money upfront before
they will disclose more details about the job. Now compare this with any legitimate, offline job. If you go for an
interview, does the manager say that you have to pay me money before I tell you what this job will involve? If he
does, we will laugh in his face and get out of that office in a second. Then why don't we do the same when we see
such sites? It's because we don't know much about the online world and are not sure if the company is telling the
truth or not.
A good way to catch these scams is to write to them and ask them if they will deduct the
admission fee/deposit money from your first month's earnings. Most of these sites say you will earn $500 or Rs.
22,500 per month. If that is true, why can't they deduct the $100/Rs. 4500 deposit from the first month's earnings
and send you back the rest? If they say they can't, then you have enough proof that the site is a scam.
